Steps To Avoid The Most Prominent 2024 ‘Shege’

Hello friend👋
Welcome to February, my amazing active readers.
I would have loved to tag this letter something different, but I want to be very free in making my point clearer in order to avoid misunderstanding the message I have for you. Besides, there are audience who are not currently in Nigeria, and it would be an injustice if they were not considered in my avatar audience.
Recently, I had the opportunity to leave the city I had been in for over 70 days. That’s strange, but it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in recent time. I could not believe I could experience two kinds of weather conditions in Nigeria on the same day. I eventually did.
The city of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, has a different atmospheric condition that is unmatched by any other state in Nigeria. The weather condition is always akin to that of Canada; however, it’s not true; it’s barely up to that in most cases. Guess what? The only twist to the environmental condition is that no one is and no one can be used to the weather condition, not even you. Are you thinking of experiencing a similar atmosphere abroad? Try to add Jos to your list of travel locations, and thank me later after your trip. Ensure you take pictures for the memories.
If I had the opportunity to choose between cold or hot zones, I would heartily accept the latter, over and over again.
I am sure you are thinking, what’s the prominent ‘shege’ in 2024? It’s nothing far-fetched. It’s the reality we have with us which happens to everyone at different times. But this current and prominent shege needs to be conquered in the right way. The shege is no other thing but inflation. Shege is a Nigerian term used to describe extreme and unpleasant situations, events or circumstances.
Inflation is really going on the high side at an unprecedented level in our world today. If you budget to get something worth $1000, there is a certain tendency to hear that the new price is an additional 8–15% per month since you priced it. Don’t be shocked if it’s double the former price, too.
From an economist's point of view, inflation is a general increase in prices and a fall in the purchasing value of money. Whenever there is inflation, there tends to be a fall in the number of things you can buy. When things go up, I have never seen them come down. Have you? Inflation makes goods go against the law of gravity; things go up and stay there without coming down. What an irony?
No matter how the things you want get on the high side, do not consider lowering the quality of what you want; you might end up spending double or triple when you are not satisfied with what you eventually go for. Try as much as possible to get the best when you can, so you don’t get what you need twice. That’s a waste of resources, and you need to avoid it like a plague. Promise to do just this this year and beyond so as to beat the shege down?
Next time, I will talk to you about the solutions and five proven steps on how you can avoid the shege and stand tall in the midst of the increase in 'shegeness'.
Till I write to you again, stay fabulous, and cheers to an amazing February.
Kind regards,
James Popoola.
